Caroline Sutton’s essays have appeared in The Literary Review, North American Review, and Cimarron Review, among others. “Missing” marks her second publication with Ascent. She is the recipient of Southern Humanities Review’s 2012 Theodore Christian Hoepfner Award, and her work received Notable Essay citations in Best American Essays 2013 and 2014. Formerly an editor at Charles Scribner’s Sons and Hilltown Press, Sutton currently teaches high school English in New York.
